devaqua

journal eps2.5_the_race_is_the_warmup.aq

making swimming as easy as sleeping.

most lessons start with strokes. we start with the water. the float comes before everything that sits on top of it.

the idea

the idea

floating first looks slower. it isn't. it's the order the skill is actually learned in: water confidence, then floating, then propulsion, then strokes. a child swims a width once they can float, breathe, and kick. in that order.

what i am

swim teaching
level 2, trained at an olympic-standard centre
in the water
teaching children water confidence and stroke fundamentals
competing
active competitive swimmer this is the deep end, on video. the whole point of devaqua is that no child has to start here. just for the record →

the log

  1. the teaching thread → the journal turns to teaching. one entry a fortnight, starting with why the order is the whole thing.
  2. the dock → dock2dock. 5,000 m, about 1:36, £500 for level water. five unknowns answered, two open, one wrong.
  3. the camp → calella. four days, six sessions, fifty metre walls. seven of eight unknowns still open.

whats coming

a self-serve way to learn it, where the progression is fixed and each milestone is a signed, dated record you can see. it isn't built yet. i won't pretend otherwise. for now, there is the mission.

mission staked. phase 0: the surface, stated honestly, before any product exists.

calella. four days, six sessions, fifty metre walls. seven of eight unknowns still open.
